ALVIN KAMARA

Alvin Kamara was born to Adama Kamara on July 25th, 1995 in Atlanta, GA. It was here where Alvin would develop a passion for football, like no other. He combined this passion with one of a kind work ethic that would help him evolve into one of the nation’s most coveted recruits. However, before Alvin could worry about his promising future in college football, he had to focus on his senior season at Norcross High School in which he was able to deliver one of the greatest seasons in Georgia prep football history. He averaged over 7.5 yards per carry and rushed for over 2,250 yards his senior year. Alvin would combine to score over 31 total touchdowns that season alone. His greatest accomplishment was with helping lead Norcross to its first-ever title game. It was in this game against Lovejoy that Alvin’s true character shined brightest. Despite being down by double-digits for the majority of the game, Alvin helped lead a ferocious comeback. He scored on a 61-yard reception, and later on a 10-yard run, to help orchestrate a three-touchdown fourth quarter, claiming the Georgia Class AAAAAA championship in the process. At the conclusion of the season, Alvin was named Georgia Mr. Football by the Atlanta Journal, was invited to numerous showcase games including the Under Armour All-American Game and was named an All-American.


Alvin committed to play football at the University of Alabama. Upon arriving at Tuscaloosa, Alvin competed against all the upperclassmen, climbing up the Crimson Tide’s depth chart during summer practice. Despite all his hard work, Alvin was redshirted his freshman year. During the offseason, coaching changes at Alabama resulted in philosophical differences, and as a result, Alvin decided to transfer to Hutchinson Community College to play for coach Rion Rhoades. Alvin only spent one year at Hutchinson but even in that short period, he was able to stamp his name all over the record books. In just 9 games he ran for over 1,200 yards, averaging 135 yards a game while racking up over 21 touchdowns. Alvin was named the KJCCC Offensive Player of the Year. At the conclusion of the season, Alvin signed with the University of Tennessee. He started his career as a Volunteer with the best debut in the history of UT football, rushing for 144 yards and scoring two touchdowns against Bowling Green. He went on to have five multi-touchdown games, and average over 6.5 yards per carry in just his first season in Knoxville. Alvin continued to build on this success his redshirt junior season by starting 7 games. In his first play as a starter, Alvin took a carry 35 yards for a touchdown. Perhaps his best overall game came in October against Texas A&M where Alvin rushed for over 125 yards combined with an additional 160 yards receiving, all while scoring three times. This marked only the second time in UT history that a player had over 100 yards rushing and receiving in one game. Alvin finished the season with 1,200 all-purpose yards and 13 total touchdowns. He was also named to the Doak Walker Preseason Watch List and Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll.



At the conclusion of his senior year, Alvin decided to enter the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft. As a result of the on-field success and hard work, Alvin was invited to the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. He crushed the on-field skills drills and physical testing by placing first among running backs for the broad jump and vertical jump, while also running a 4.56 sec 40-yard dash. His performance at the combine was hailed by a number of analysts, including draft expert Bucky Brooks stating, “Alvin Kamara will walk out of Indy as the biggest winner in the RB class. He crushed interviews and workouts. High football IQ and great personality.” Alvin Kamara was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the third round, 67th overall, in the 2017 NFL Draft. In the Saints’ backfield, Kamara brings versatility and explosive ability to the table. As a rookie, Kamara will be a weapon on third down in the passing game and splitting out of the backfield.
